Foster Injury Law is a plaintiff-side personal injury law firm in Ontario. Our practice focuses on representing individuals dealing with the legal and insurance consequences of serious accidents and injury claims.

We act for injured plaintiffs in motor vehicle accident claims, motorcycle accident cases, long-term disability disputes, and other negligence actions. Cases regularly involve ongoing medical documentation, expert evidence, examinations for discovery, and mediation. We are seeking an associate lawyer with prior exposure to personal injury litigation.

The Role

The associate will manage a portion of their own files while also assisting on more complex matters. Responsibilities include:

• Communicating directly with clients throughout the life of their file
• Reviewing medical, and insurer documentation
• Drafting pleadings and litigation correspondence
• Preparing motion materials
• Conducting examinations for discovery
• Attending mediations and pre-trial
• Negotiating with insurers and defence counsel
• Assisting with more complex injury and disability claims

The role involves meaningful client interaction and responsibility for advancing files through the litigation process.

Nature of the Practice

The firm’s work primarily involves:

• Motor vehicle accident claims
• Motorcycle accident injuries
• Long-term disability insurance disputes
• Accident benefits claims
• Cases requiring medical and vocational expert evidence

Files are prepared with close attention to evidence, procedural timelines, and client communication. Many matters resolve through negotiation or mediation, but preparation assumes that court determination may ultimately be required. The associate will gain experience handling moderate-complexity files independently while contributing to more serious matters alongside senior counsel.

Qualifications

Relevant prior exposure to personal injury litigation is required. The ideal candidate will possess three to seven years of experience in personal injury or insurance defence and be open to a partially performance based compensation structure.

Helpful experience includes:

• Work in a plaintiff personal injury or disability practice
• Participation in examinations for discovery
• Familiarity with Ontario civil procedure
• Exposure to mediations and pre-trials
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

Location

The position is based primarily in Barrie with hybrid flexibility available. Court attendances are typically conducted virtually, though files may proceed through courts serving Barrie and surrounding regions.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive but will depend on experience and responsibilities and can be structured for the right candidate.

Applications

Interested candidates may send a resume and brief cover letter to info@fosterinjurylaw.ca. All inquiries will be kept confidential. We thank all applicants for their inquiries, however, only successful applicants will be contacted.
